About
Located on beautiful Lake Wheeler, the Raleigh Rowing Center promotes the sport of rowing for both recreational and competitive rowers. Whether you are a beginning or experienced rower, the members of RRC invite you to join us at Lake Wheeler – The Best Rowing Venue in the Triangle.
Raleigh Rowing Center members have a variety of rowing backgrounds. Some joined the club to learn to row, and many joined to continue participating in the sport they loved so much in college or high school. Some are scullers and others prefer sweep rowing. Some row recreationally, and others compete in regattas. Although racing may not be for everyone, as a club we organize boats, train as a team, and enter regattas. In addition to using club equipment, many members have their own singles and doubles and store them on racks at the Lake.
RRC is a community partner and works with the City of Raleigh Parks and Recreation office and the staff at Lake Wheeler Park. Our club supports other local rowing programs, including Raleigh Charter High School, NC State University, and Wake Rowing.
In 2002, members of RRC have installed a 100′ launch dock for the lake’s rowers, school programs, kayakers and canoers; and rack storage shared with NC State, Wake Rowing, and Raleigh Charter. In 2008, RRC members worked with Raleigh Parks and Rec to install additional rack storage for 28 singles, eight doubles and eight quads.
Rowing is growing at Lake Wheeler!
