Directions to Lake Wheeler:

From Interstate 40 in Raleigh, take exit 297 [Lake Wheeler Road/Farmer's Market] and proceed south [away from Raleigh].  It's about 4.5 miles to the park.  
Stay on Lake Wheeler Rd.
You will go through a traffic light at Tryon Rd.
The next traffic light after Tryon is Simpkins Road.
The park entrance is then within a 1/2 mile on the right.
Enter the park and drive to the waterfront.
